This nonfiction picture book is the second in the series "In the Footsteps of Giants"; with the first book, "Cenozoic Mammals," the author was also included in the IBBY Honor List. In "Jurassic Dinosaurs," readers will learn a lot about the Mesozoic era, with an emphasis on the Jurassic period, including the flora and fauna of that time, with a focus on dinosaurs, of course. They are presented in both image and word, with paleontological illustrations and interesting facts. The well-designed picture book, suitable for both preschool children and early elementary school students, also includes a special tool that allows all sixteen dinosaurs presented in the book to be animated and brought to life. To better understand the size of the dinosaurs, each one is illustrated alongside a dog, which in most cases is much smaller than the dinosaurs, though in some rare cases, it is larger. Dinosaurs from the Jurassic period will be followed by dinosaurs from the Cretaceous period in a new book.
