The stories about the second grader, Katarínka, who on her way to and from school, experiences the closeness to nature. The natural environment, peace and quiet supports the nice atmosphere of the book. Strong elements of the book are fantasy, dreams, personification and metaphors, for example, typical fairy-tale creatures such as a nix, the Snow Queen, goblins or talking snowmen. More important than the plot itself is the sensual feeling, through which the reader gets to understand the story. The author also used gentle humour that was adapted to the child recipient.
