Nelson Tigertass is Lena Frölander-Ulf’s first novel for children. She is previously known for her illustrations and picturebooks, for which she has received several nominations for literary prizes.
In Nelson Tigertass we meet Nelson Mareng, a well-behaved boy living in the well-behaved town of Berlurenstad, where everything is as it should be, and everybody knows their place. Nelson’s place for the summer is with his grandfather, at least until his mother gets their new house in order. However, when Nelson’s grandfather suddenly gets far too busy to take care of him, Nelson finds himself stranded at the train station with no idea how to get home to his mother. Luckily, he quickly makes a friend willing to help him find his way. But everyone in Berlurenstad is not as friendly as they may seem, and Nelson must find out for himself what is right and what is wrong.
