Catch the Blue Bear for me is a gentle story about growing up, written in a way that is suitable for children. Read by a child, this book tells a story about a toy and injustice, while adults can see the layers beneath it, and many can recognize themselves in this account of interpersonal relations.
Vanda Čižmek uses digital techniques in creating her illustration. Distinctly clean characters, shapes and space characterize her artistic expression. The illustrator creates an interesting and memorable personality of the flat surface on which the story takes place in a simple way. The geometrical surface provides a background against which the emotions of the characters stand out. The illustrations bear a reminiscence to some elements of the famed Zagreb School of Animated Film, giving us a contemporary reinterpretation of this tradition.
