The novel is a first part of a fantasy duology. Alba is, at a first glance, an ordinary young girl. She’s new in town, goes to school and seeks the attention of nice and popular boy called Oliver. Because of her weird clothes, untamed hair and unusual capability to attract the birds, other kids call her the Scarecrow girl. Although Alba is a bit of a freak, no one imagines that she is in fact on a mission to become the youngest ruler of the Underworld. And that Oliver is her last mission. She only needs to rescue him and she is off. At least this is what she thinks would happen. Alba manages to get through to Oliver, eventually they fall in love. When time comes, she successfully completes her tasks, but by rescuing Oliver’s weak heart, she inevitably loses the will to leave the Middleworld, Oliver and his family. The love that sparks between two young people seems completely impossible, and Alba, who finds herself caught between two worlds, is forced to take a difficult decision. She chooses to follow her duty, but has to cope with terrible loss.
