This nonfiction picturebook by biologist and writer Tinka Bačič opens the eyes of young researchers to often overlooked living creatures, their environment and needs, without coming across as pedagogical. The exceptionality of the world in the shallows of the sea is wonderfully depicted in Polona Lovšin's illustrations, which are skillfully designed and successfully interwoven with photographs. The book directs the eye, inspires and entertains, and at the same time, it can draw the adventurers who would spend whole days in the water to the book for a few moments or push the bookworms out into the world.
