This exceptional picture book tells the archetypical Legend of Great Flood based on the Old Testament. Linda Wolfsgruber refuses deliberately from using words narrating the whole story, only the beginning (It began to rain...) and the end (...and all were saved.) is framed by a sentence. With drawings of colorful animals all in pairs fleeing from the left to the right site of the pages and more and more one above the other she portrays the wide range of life. When the rain becomes heavier all creatures find refuge in the ark looking like a nutshell. When in the dark sky every star shines brightly and the open eyes of all passengers lighten the ark all animals are save and look forward hopefully.
Enclosed there is a brief retelling of the Legend from Linda Wolfsgruber.
